Classes for all abilities

Re-starting Fitness Classes

A limited outdoor fitness class programme will be available at Gainsborough Sports Centre, Whitton Sports Centre and Ransomes Sports Pavilion.

You will need to pre-book and pre-pay for classes online before you visit. Payments and bookings will not be taken in the centres. Please read our fitness class guidance below before attending.

  • All classes must be pre-booked and pre-paid for prior to the class. No payments will be taken at the facility.
  • Please arrive no earlier than 5 mins before the start of your class.
  • Classes at Gainsborough sports centre will take place on the grass area next to the all-weather area. When driving in please follow the signs to the Fitness Class parking. Once parked please follow the signs to Outdoor Fitness Classes where the coach will meet you. Please register with them and await further instructions. Please ensure you have pre-booked and pre-paid otherwise you won’t be able to participate. In the event of wet weather which prevents the grass area from being used, the classes will be relocated to the all-weather area, which is a sand-based surface.
  • Classes at Whitton sports centre will take place on the all-weather area which is a rubber crumb artificial surface. When driving in please park and head towards the All Weather Area where the coach will meet you by the entrance to the All Weather Area. Please register with them and await further instructions. Please ensure you have pre-booked and pre-paid otherwise you won’t be able to participate.
  • Classes at Ransomes sports pavilion will take place on the grass area next to the pavilion. Please select Northgate Sports Centre as the site to book Ransomes classes online. When driving in please park and head towards the back of the Pavilion where you can queue to then register your attendance with the coach. Please register with them and await further instructions. Please ensure you have pre-booked and pre-paid otherwise you won’t be able to participate.
  • When attending your fitness class, please do not go to reception. The coach will check you in at the class area.
  • Classes will take place in most weather. In the event of severe weather, however, such as thunderstorms or extreme rain which may result in the areas becoming unsafe we will contact customers before the class starts to cancel.
  • Please come dressed appropriately for outdoor activity including appropriate footwear. We won’t accept inappropriate footwear that may cause injury, such as flip-flops, sliders or anything else that doesn’t provide appropriate support. In hot weather please bring appropriate protection such as sunscreen or a hat.
  • Please bring your own mats as these can’t be shared. If you wish to bring your own equipment please feel free to.
  • Please bring a filled water bottle with you to the class as facilities to fill your bottle will be limited.

Online Classes

Whilst our facilities are closed, join us as we deliver online fitness classes. You can join in with our classes Monday – Saturday on Facebook Live or catch all of our on-demand content over on our YouTube channel. Don’t forget to subscribe to be notified when new content is released. 

Class Descriptions

Most classes are suitable for all levels of fitness and ability. Some classes are not suitable for pregnant ladies, those who have recently had abdominal operations or anyone who suffers with high blood pressure.

Customers who suffer from any known medical condition should seek medical advice before taking part and should inform the instructor of any such conditions or injuries before the class begins.

Suitable clothing is recommended and suitable footwear must be worn.

Adult Trampolining

A coach led trampolining session for adults of all abilities, in order to learn new trampolining skills in a safe and fun environment whilst improving fitness levels at the same time. Please note, this class is not suitable for pregnant ladies or anyone recovering from injury.

Aerobics

A series of dance-style exercise based moves put together into a routine. Taught with both high and low impact level options, it will help improve general fitness and burn calories. Suitable for all levels of fitness users from beginners to advanced.

Aqua Bootcamp

Bring the outside to the inside with this action packed, intensive Aqua Boot Camp. Using the water’s resistance and intensity to improve performance and gain amazing results, this class brings the craze of military style exercise into the water with individual and team-based work. The workout will push people a little bit further, working with fun suspended, plyometric and HIIT drills and full of challenges in strength and cardiovascular training.

Please note, this class is not suitable for pregnant ladies or anyone recovering from injury. The class will use both the shallow and deep ends of the pool.

Aqua Deep

Great for working your core and stomach, this is a slower class with more defined movements, but still a good aerobic workout with weights and woggles. Non-swimmers can participate as a flotation belt is worn. This class is not suitable for pregnant ladies, those who have recently had abdominal operations or anyone who suffers with high blood pressure. Please inform the instructor if you suffer from any such medical conditions before the class begins.

Aqua Fit

Held in shallow water and suitable for all abilities, including pregnant ladies. A mix of low and high intensity moves set to music using weights and woggles for a full body workout.

Breathe Well

Our fully qualified instructors will run a gentle 1-hour exercise programme that will open up your lungs and enable you to do far more than you ever realised, plus there’s an hours social time at the end of the class for a well earned tea or coffee.

Body Conditioning

This class combines cardio, strength and toning exercises. This top to toe workout is suitable for all fitness users, with optional use of fitness equipment.

Box Fit

A high energy boxing style class aiming to improve your upper body strength. It is perfect for overall toning in a challenging, safe and fun environment, using contact and non-contact styles. Suitable for all fitness users at all levels.

Body Tone

Combined aerobic and toning exercises including use of fitness equipment. This class combines cardio, strength and toning exercises. This top to toe workout is suitable for all fitness users, with optional use of fitness equipment.

Buggy Fitness

Recently had a baby and need to get active? Struggling with childcare? Then Buggy fitness is for you!

Lead by trained fitness professionals, our Ipswich Buggy fitness sessions enable you to get active whilst spending time with your child.

Incorporating cardio vascular and fat-burning exercises with strength training and toning, these postnatal exercise classes concentrate on the specific areas that need work after childbirth – all while your baby enjoys some fresh air!

All you need is comfortable clothing, trainers and your buggy and child!

Circuit Training

A mixed class comprising of high intensity cardiovascular and muscular exercise. The cardio work will help to elevate the heart rate to burn fat while the muscular work will help tone or even build muscles. This class requires the use of weights and other fitness equipment and is suitable for all levels. A great all over body workout.

Core Conditioning

Core conditioning is a low impact class which focuses on your core muscles. A strong core improves your posture, balance and tones your abdominal muscles.

Dance Fit

Dance Fit is a class combining high and low impact moves with choreographed steps to music. It’s a fun and upbeat class for all levels of fitness.

Float Fit

A new and exciting HIIT class which takes place on a board in the swimming pool, leading to improved core stability, adds an extra challenge to your cardio workout and adds a big splash of fun!

HIIT Circuits

High Intensity Interval Training (Circuits) – class comprising high intensity cardiovascular and muscular exercise intervals. The cardio work will help to elevate the heart rate to burn fat while the muscular work will help tone and build muscles. This class may requires the use of weights and other fitness equipment and is suitable for moderate to high fitness levels with low options if required.

Indoor Cycling

A static bike class, combining stamina, strength and endurance all in one class. A great cardio workout ideal for fat burning and improving fitness. It’s easy to follow and suitable for all fitness levels.

Legs, Bums and Tums

A low impact class focusing on toning. Suitable for all levels of fitness.

Low Impact Fitness (50+)

A gentle exercise based class to music, aiming to increase flexibility, mobility, strength and cardiovascular component with a range of seated, standing and resistance based exercises. Suitable for fitness users who require a lower intensity and impact level.

Max Workout

A mixed class comprising of high intensity cardiovascular and muscular exercise. The cardio work will help to elevate the heart rate to burn fat while the muscular work will help tone or even build muscles. This class requires the use of weights and other fitness equipment and is suitable for all levels. A great all over body workout.

Mummy Yoga

Our Yoga class is great for pregnant ladies and those ready for post-natal exercise. The class looks at a range of movements and is designed to keep participants active and relaxed during their pregnancy, or provide a low impact and appropriate activity for those that have recently had babies.

Pilates

Developed by Joseph Pilates, this mat-based class is perfect for improving strength, coordination, balance, posture and flexibility. The exercises are designed to be adapted for all levels and can be done as a form of rehabilitation following an injury or ongoing condition, or just to develop your core strength and posture.

Pilates Plus

Incorporates small equipment including using the Pilates Small Ball, Weighted Balls, Massage Balls and the Resistance Band.

Discover how the balls and band add variety, challenge, resistance, control and fun!

The class is suitable for all levels.

Pump and Tone

A barbell class that helps to shape, tone and strengthen your entire body. This class is low impact and suitable for all fitness levels.

Sequence Dance

A form of dancing in which ballroom dance steps are used as the basis for a wide variety of different dances typically performed in a sequence.

Spin and Tone

Spin and Tone is a mixture of working on the bikes and toning work using hand weights. On the bikes the focus is on cardio work, raising the heart rate and burning fat, while the tone section is low impact focusing on the upper body and core.

Step and Tone

A mixture of a step routine and toning exercises. The step will help to increase your heart rate ,fat burning, followed by a mixture of toning exercises with optional hand weights. A good mixture of high and low impact for all levels of fitness.

Super Circuit

Super circuit is an express class lasting 30 minutes. It’s a circuit made up of various high and low impact exercises with the use of weights and bands. A full body workout for all levels of fitness.

Yoga

Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility and breathing to boost physical and mental well-being. Yoga uses disciplined methods and techniques to help promote your general health, balance, coordination and body awareness. Suitable for beginners to advanced.

Zumba

Zumba is a Latin dance-inspired aerobics class. Each track has a different routine making it easy to follow and has high and low impact options. A great class for burning calories and having fun.
